Helloooo, Friend! You're subscribed to Simple Everyday Home, the super-fun newsletter where I share my tried and true tips for decluttering your home and keeping it clean. Which, admittedly, doesn't sound very fun at all, but trust me, your coffee won't taste as caffeinated without it. You know what feels impossible to do when life is chaotic, cluttered, or just full of more dirty dishes than time? Making appointments. Dentist. Mammogram. Eye exam. Dermatologist for that weird new freckle that suddenly appeared on your shoulder. When we feel overwhelmed or behindâor like weâre barely keeping our hair washedâthose ânon-urgentâ appointments get pushed to the bottom of the list. Weâll get to them once we catch up. Once things settle down. Once we have a minute to think. But hereâs the thing: life might not settle down. And that to-do list? It tends to grow in both directions. (I'm just a barrel of good news today, huh!? đ) I have a dentist appointment this week, and Iâm honestly kind of proud of myself for keeping it. Not because Iâm excited about scraping noises or detailing my "plans for the weekend" while someone has their hand shoved in my mouthâbut because I didnât wait until everything in my life was perfectly under control to take care of myself. Thatâs what I want to remind you of today: You donât need to âearnâ a check-up by being more organized. You donât need to âdeserveâ healthcare by hitting inbox zero or finally decluttering your vast supply of garden gnomes. Youâre allowed to take care of yourself even in the middle of the mess. So if youâve been putting something offâmaybe todayâs a good day to call. Schedule the appointment. Book the test. Put your name on the list. Always remember, my friend, YOU matter more than an organized sock drawer. Cheering you on, P.S. Want a little glimpse into my (admittedly boring) real life? I listen to BBC period drama soundtracks on Spotify all! day! long! I can't focus with words singing in my ear (apparently you lose the ability to hear and think at the same time when you're old), but I need to have something playing to block the sound of random leaves blowing across the lawn. Because while my dogs can't hear their own names unless I'm holding a block of cheese, they can hear the heartbeat of a squirrel two miles away. So...I'm just over here jamming to Emma and The Paradise like an 1800's socialite. Rock on!
